For sale: a Rare and signed first hardcover edition, first printing of Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut in a new archival wrap. First Edition unstated, 1979 Delacorte. First Delacorte Printing stated.

The book is in Near Fine condition with clean, bright, cloth boards, strong title gilt on the spine and front facsimile, clean page blocks, tight binding, mild spine tilt, rolled spine ends, mild edge wear, and lightly rubbed corners. The interior of the book is also in Near Fine condition with the author’s signature on the title page with no inscription. No other marks, inscriptions, or other signs of ownership inside. The end papers and the interior pages are clean and bright.

The dust jacket is in Near Fine condition with mild surface and edge wear. First state jacket with $9.95 price and 0979 date code on front flap. Looks great in a new Brodart archival wrap.

Kurt Vonnegut’s Classic novel about a man who is released from a low security prison after having served time for a minor role in the Watergate scandal. The novel depicted the man’s first two days experiencing his new-found freedom. The novel concerns itself with the history of the American labor movement, while also pointing out flaws in corporate America, the American political system, the American red scare of the late 1950s, and both capitalist and communist theory.
