For sale is a rare First Edition, First Trade Printing with no dust jacket. 1944 Doubleday Doran. First Edition described “after the printing of a limited edition of 750 copies.” First Trade Printing with 1944 on both title and copyright pages and no subsequent print date.
The hardcover is in Very Good condition with with lightly faded boards, a little bit of sheen, clean page blocks, a tight binding, mild spine tilt, and moderate edge and corner wear. The spine is sunned, the title gilt is almost gone, and the title is only visible up close. Some fraying to the top spine end. A publisher’s bookmark that states the book “Appeared Serially in Redbook” is on the FEP and mild bleed through on the versa. The pages are clean and lightly toned with no foxing. This is the full-size 343 p. edition, with the Wartime Conditions stamp on the copyright page with the Eagle framed book.
