For sale is a rare First hardcover Edition, First Printing of Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. First Edition described, December 1984 Bantam Books. First Printing with complete number line, 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.

The book is in Very Good+ condition with one flaw – a dime-size white spot on the rear board. Otherwise, the boards are clean, and bright, with a tight binding, no spine tilt, very clean page blocks, and one lightly bumped corner. No marks or inscriptions. Pages very clean and very bright.

The dust jacket is in Poor condition with very heavy edge wear, chips, tears and gaps – especially the top edge – which has multiple tape repairs. Much of the tape appears to be acid-free. The front graphic and text is unmarked. The rear author photo is mostly free from damage, as well. Therefore, this really looks great in a new archival sleeve.

Jitterbug Perfume is an epic. Which is to say, it begins in the forests of ancient Bohemia and doesn’€™t conclude until nine o€™clock tonight (Paris time). It is a saga, as well. A saga must have a hero, and the hero of this one is a janitor with a missing bottle. The bottle is blue, very, very old, and embossed with the image of a goat-horned god. If the liquid in the bottle actually is the secret essence of the universe, as some folks seem to think, it had better be discovered soon because it is leaking and there is only a drop or two left.
